Kings Blue
Description
Fundamentals are underglazes from Mayco that are shaken before use and applied to clay, greenware or bisque with a brush. Colors can be mixed with each other or combined with other glazes from Mayco. Depending on the application thickness, you can get watercolor effect (1 layer) up to fully opaque (3-4 layers). They can be fired at 1044°C and 1207°C - 1280°C with possible color and texture variations at temperatures above 1044°C (see under the information tab). The examples are made on white clay and at 1044°C with NTBR clear glaze on top. Test firing is recommended.
Recommended clear glazes for earthenware are NT-BR (glossy), S2101 (glossy), C300 (matt) and for stoneware SW-001, SW-004 or HF-9 (up to 1240°C). Always test first when using other clear glazes. The glaze becomes food safe in combination with clear glaze.
Fundamentals® Underglazes have been formulated to mature at cone 1000-1040°C. However most will maintain their color at higher temperatures. Their performance at stoneware is noted on each individual product label. We recommend testing on your clay body and in your kiln prior to use.
