Light Magma
Description
Mudcrack was developed to create a highly textured, raised, and cracked surface. The thicker the application, the more textured the surface will be. Mudcrack can be applied directly to bisqueware or in combination with other mid-range glazes. For shown results, apply directly to bisqueware. Heavy application may cause unfired glaze to release from the bisqueware. If the glaze is thick in the jar, vigorous stirring and shaking will increase fluidity. The amount of texture and cracking produced with these glazes is directly dependent on how thickly the glaze is applied. A thinner application will result in a smoother surface with very fine cracks. A thicker application will result in larger cracks and more tactile texture.
The glaze can be quite thick in consistency when first opened due to its composition. Add water and stir until it reaches a brushable consistency. Apply at least three coats to show results. The crackling should be visible immediately after application when the glaze is dry; otherwise, apply more layers. Handle the ware carefully after drying, as the flakes may fall off. The glaze is almost run-free. This means that the first glaze layer can be painted down to the edge, but for subsequent layers, leave a margin at the bottom of first 0.5 cm and then 1 cm. (1200°C - 1280°C) 473 ml. At temperatures higher than 1240°C, the appearance of the glaze changes.
Preferably applied with a soft fan brush on bisqueware. Fired to between cone 5 and cone 6 (1200°C - 1230°C). 473 ml. Many colors perform very well even at higher temperatures, see pictures, tested before application in production. 473 ml. Ready-mixed. See more information here.
Information
Cone 6 oxidation (larger image): Light Magma is a sand-colored, high-texture glaze that creates a rough, cratered surface. The thicker the application, the more textured the surface will be.
Cone 10 reduction (smaller image): Texture slightly flattens. Color changes to a cream/gray.
